Changing Practice by Using Data
NO LONGER OFFERED |
Southern Regional
Education Board Certified Trainer Harriet K. Dawson |
Improving student
learning by changing classroom and school practices both requires
and results in changes to a school's culture. Culture also impacts

data can be a powerful lever to explore inequity, expose systemic
biases and change beliefs and practices needed to improve the
achievement of disenfranchised students. Trainer Harriet Dawson will
help participants gain analytical tools to uncover the "real"
problems that school leaders need to address to close "success gaps"
in schools.

Really, What IS Writing and Reading Across the
Curriculum? |
Master Teacher and
Training Coordinator for Workforce Development Julia Tucker-Lloyd |
A hallmark of the
theory behind writing across the curriculum is that writing is an
effective tool in every content area and writing helps students to
master every subject by promoting students' general cognitive and
intellectual growth. Not only is reading an integral part of the
writing experience, but reading across the curriculum is more than
reading from course textbooks. Come learn how to make connections,
ask the "right" questions, and monitor student progress across the
curriculum.
